To mark International Women’s Day in Laos, the Public Diplomacy Section of the U.S. Embassy organized an “American Women History” exhibition at the American Center in Vientiane on March 20, 2009.
Some 50 students attended the exhibition, where they learned about the lives and contributions of significant women in American history in various fields, including Native American leader Pocahontas, letterist and former first lady Abigail Adams, slavery abolitionist Harriet Tubman, women’s rights leader Susan B. Anthony, author Helen Keller, UN delegate Eleanor Roosevelt, entertainer Judi Garland, architect Maya Ying Lin, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, new first lady Michelle Obama, and others. This exhibition was part of on-going U.S. Embassy-Lao American College co-operation.
