The U.S. Embassy’s Consular and Public Diplomacy Sections held a series of presentations on “Student Visas to the U.S.” at the National University of Laos on March 26, and at the Lao-American Center – Lao-American College on March 31. The presentations were led by Vice Consul Michael Scharding, and aimed to provide information for students who were interested in studying in the U.S.
Mr. Scharding told students about the steps for applying to a school in U.S., and he emphasized the need for choosing the best fit, doing the research on a place and never giving up on the dream to study in the U.S., even if they became middle-aged career professionals. In addition, he explained the types of visas, steps and required documents for applying for a U.S. visa. Along with the presentation he handed out cards, information on useful websites to students, and scholarship opportunities and encouraged them to visit the Public Diplomacy section to use its resources.
