50th anniversary

Football Match Between the U.S. Embassy and the Lao Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The U.S. Embassy, Vientiane, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Lao, P.D.R. participated in a Football Match between teams from the Embassy and the Ministry on the morning of August 20, in partial celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the establishment of Diplomatic Relations between the United States and the Lao, P.D.R.

The Football Match was opened by U.S. Ambassador to Laos Patricia M. Haslach and Mr. Southam Sakhonniyom, Director General of the European and America Department of the Foreign Affairs Ministry. Players on the teams included Embassy officials and Directors of Departments from the Lao Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as younger players from both sides.

The Lao Ministry of Foreign Affairs won the Match by a score of 3-2. (August 20, 2005)
