Wattay Airport employees practice fraud detection during training organized by the U.S. Embassy

More than 70 Wattay International Airport employees in Vientiane received training on fraud identification and customs enforcement during a workshop organized by the U.S. Embassy on July 17-18.

The training was organized by the Embassy’s Regional Security Office (RSO) and Consular Section, with support from U.S. Embassy Bangkok’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) office.

The training focused on improving fraud identification and enforcement of U.S. visa and customs policies. Organizers stated that sharing information and knowledge will enable Lao airline officials to catch more fraudulent U.S. documents and detect passengers traveling to the U.S. under false pretenses, ultimately improving security for both the U.S. and Laos. Fraud training is an important element of U.S. Embassy Vientiane’s outreach efforts.
