The U.S. Embassy Helps Ketsana Victims

U.S. Ambassador Ravic Huso presents a donation of $50,000 to  Dr. Snivourast Sramany, President of the Lao Red Cross.

The U.S. Embassy in Vientiane is pleased to announce the donation of 50,000 U.S. Dollars to the Lao Red Cross for relief efforts in the Lao provinces of Xekong, Saravan, and Attapu. Tropical Storm Ketsana caused severe flooding and damage to numerous villages and cropland in southern Laos. Affected communities need provision of food, water, and shelter, as well as assistance rehabilitating damaged buildings, infrastructure, and agricultural land. The U.S. Embassy, in partnership with the Lao Red Cross, extends its hand to help in the on-going relief efforts in southern Laos and will continue to monitor the situation in that region.
