Embassy Donates Computers to Five Lao Institutions (March 24, 2004)

The American Embassy is pleased to announce that it has donated seven computers and printers to five Lao institutions. At a ceremony held on March 24, Public Affairs Officer James A. Warren handed over the computers to representatives from the following institutions:
- Lao National Museum, Ministry of Information and Culture
- Division of Archeological Research, Ministry of Information and Culture
- English Department, National University of Laos
- Mass Media Training Center, Ministry of Information and Culture (2 computers)
- Science and Technology Study Center, Science, Technology and Environment Agency (STEA) (2 computers)
These computers have been donated to offices that the American Embassy has worked with recently to provide training for students, journalists, and museum staff, and to conduct projects to preserve old Lao artifacts. The total value of these computers and printers was over US$13,000.
In addition to the seven computers mentioned above, the American Embassy also donated two computers to the Museum in Luang Prabang in January of this year. Those computers will be used for computerizing the inventory of the Museum’s extensive collection.
