Laos Aids U.S. Disaster Victims

The U.S. Embassy was very pleased to receive a telegram from Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Somsavat Lengsavad on behalf of the Government of the Lao, P.D.R. expressing sympathy for the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
The Lao government expressed its condolences for the lost of life and property experienced by people in the affected areas and pledged its support to the United States in the face of the disaster.
As a gesture of good will, the Lao government also provided $25,000 to help those affected by the hurricane recover. The money was presented to the U.S. Ambassador to Laos, Patricia M. Haslach.
