Over 70 Lao students turned out to get information about studying in the United States at a presentation at the American Center (the local name for Laos’ American Corner) on September 10. The program, arranged by the Embassy’s Public Affairs Section and conducted by an Admissions Officer from Lehigh University, provided information about many subjects of interest to students interested in studying in the United States, including how to find a suitable university, how to apply to American universities, how to prepare for standardized testing, how to draft an effective personal statement, financial aid, and university support for foreign students. The Lehigh University official also provided information about scholarships specifically reserved for Lao students at that university.
