Embassy Organizes Drug Counseling Training Program (Nov. 25, 2004)

The U.S. Embassy’s Narcotics Affairs Office supported a nine-day training program in late November to “train the trainers.” The goal of the program was to train health professionals who will form a central task force for drug counseling services. The central staff will then provide training to provincial and district counterparts. This first course included 26 participants from local hospitals and other health organizations. The program was organized in coordination with the United Nations Office of Drugs and Crime and the Lao National Commission on Drug Control and Supervision, along with the cooperation of the Lao Ministry of Health.
