Four Lao Fulbright scholars and one Lao Humphrey Fellow will leave Laos in the next few weeks to begin their studies in the United States. These scholars were the winners of the scholarship competition organized by the U.S. Embassy.
The Fulbright Program was established by the U.S. Congress in 1946 to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and other countries through the exchange of persons, knowledge, and skills. In Laos, the Program funds two-year Master’s Degree study in the United States. The Humphrey Fellowship provides mid-career professionals from developing countries an opportunity to enhance their professional capabilities through participation in specialized, 10-month, non-degree programs at selected American universities.
