MS. Nervig Katherine gave a talk on
Women's Histry month at American Center
To help celebrate Women’s History Month, the Embassy’s Community Liaison Officer (CLO) Katherine Nervig gave a talk and introduced a showing of the video “Mighty Times: The Legacy of Rosa Parks at the Embassy’s American Center on Wednesday, March 1. In her remarks, Ms. Nervig explained the context of the civil rights movement in America. This video shows the important results of the events sparked by Rosa Parks refusal to give up her seat in the section of a bus reserved for whites only. Her simple act of defiance against racial segregation on city buses inspired the African American community of Montgomery, Alabama, to unite against the segregationists who ran the City government. This program was part of the Public Affairs Section’s series of programs about American history and culture that take place in the American Center every Wednesday afternoon.
