Lao Students Discuss Women of Influence | Students and Amy Archibald, Public Affairs Officer, at the American Center. |
On March 12, Public Affairs Officer Amy Archibald spoke to a group of 18 (mostly male) students at the American Center in Vientiane about the role of women in U.S. history. Mrs. Archibald asked students to consider why women need a “history month” of their own and if the audience knew the date of “International Men’s Day;” pointing out that for many years the contributions of women to building today’s democratic society never made it into the history books. The presentation helped focus students on the historical achievements of women in different fields, including literature, justice, and government.
