To commemorate World Environment Day, Public Affairs Officer Amy Archibald spoke to a group of 30 students about creative ideas to protect the environment on June 20 at the American Center, Vientiane.
Mrs. Archibald encouraged students to pay attention and to take action. Using TIME Magazine’s April 9 story, “51 ways you can help,” she gave examples of 10 new ways to protect natural resources and reduce emissions, like keeping your motorcycle tires properly inflated to save gas. During a lively discussion at the end of the presentation, students came up with an additional list of about 15 unusual ways to save energy, water, and natural resources, including not burning trash and reading instead of watching TV.
