U.S. Embassy Participates in UXO Lao Trainee Graduation Ceremony

On June 20, Consular Officer Phil Nervig represented the Embassy at a ceremony honoring 21 Senior Explosive Ordnance Device Technicians on the successful conclusion of their 5-month training course. The technicians will lead UXO Lao provincial operations to reduce and remove the impact of persistent unexploded ordnance in Laos. 

As the largest donor to UXO activities in Laos, the United States Government has contributed over $25 million to UXO removal, public awareness, and victim's assistance programs since 1998, including $3.5 million in 2005.
