On February 13, visiting Regional Information Resource Officer Linda K. Parker delivered a presentation to 74 students and staff members of the National University of Laos, Faculty of Letters English department titled “How to Write a Good Proposal.” Linda noted that having the greatest idea ever won’t get you anywhere if you cannot communicate effectively when you need resources to accomplish your goal. Designed to assist in the drafting of proposals for grants and scholarships, the presentation focused on the importance of good writing, good editing, and carefully following the instructions for submitting a proposal. The audience also learned how to organize a basic proposal, meet the deadlines, and submit the final version of the document. Acting Dean Dr. Bouasavanh Keovilay welcomed Ms. Parker and said that the training was particularly timely, since the final year students must soon complete their research project proposals. Ms. Parker delivered a similar address to 34 students, NGO representatives, and staff from the National Library at the American Center the following day.
