Embassy Sponsors Workshop on English Teaching in Luang Prabang (April 2, 2004)

The American Embassy in Vientiane sponsored a one-week workshop for English teachers at the Teacher Training College in Luang Prabang March 29 - April 2, 2004. This workshop was organized in cooperation with the English Resource Center, Teacher Training Department, Ministry of Education.

The workshop provided training to 69 participants from Luang Prabang province including English lecturers, staff from the Teacher Training College and Souphanouvong National University Luang Prabang, and English teachers from secondary schools throughout the province. The training was conducted by Frances Westbrook and Jaylon Baykal, Bangkok-based English Teaching Fellows; and Mr. Somphanh Sengthong, Master Trainer/Deputy Director of English Resource Center. This was the fourth workshop held at the five Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs) in Laos. In the past year, workshops were also held at the TTCs in Savannakhet, Champasak, and Xieng Khuang provinces.
