Georgetown University Professor Brings Negotiations Skills Training to Laos

Professor Casmir A. Yost speaks at the Institute of Foreign Affairs |
From April 20-24, 2009, Professor Casmir Yost of Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. visited Laos to conduct workshops on “Advanced Negotiating Skills in Multilateral Diplomacy for the Junior Diplomat.” Professor Yost spoke to audiences at the Institute of Foreign Affairs, National Academy of Politics and Public Administration, and National University of Laos, Faculty of Law Political Science International Relations Department. The lectures and discussion covered several topics relating to diplomatic negotiations, with particular attention to problem solving and preparation.
Professor Yost is a Visiting Professor at the Georgetown School of Foreign Service and Senior Research Fellow with the Institute for the Study of Diplomacy. He previously served as the Director of the Institute for the Study of Diplomacy from March 1994 to July 2008. He is also the son of the first U.S. Ambassador to Laos and last visited the country in 1955.
