Sports Exhibition Scores High with Students

Lao students play broom hockey for the first time

Over 160 students from the Lao-American College participated in four of America’s most popular sports: baseball, basketball, American football, and hockey. On July 24 and 27, the U.S. Embassy in Vientiane provided baseball gloves, softballs, footballs, a basketball, and Frisbees for the students to use outside, while inside the college students played  broom hockey (a casual variation on hockey that uses brooms instead of hockey sticks and a tennis ball instead of a puck).

This activity is part of on-going cooperation between the U.S. Embassy and the Lao-American College.
